The eight-episode series comes from the team behind I, Tonya. Screenwriter Steven Rogers and Director Craig Gillespie are attached while title star Margot Robbie is attached as exec producer as well as Mixed-ish’s Karin Gist is set as showrunner.
Tyson is not apart of Hulu’s Iron Mike and publically condoned the streamer in February when the project was first announced. He accused the Disney-owned network of “cultural misappropriation” and said it was “tone-deaf” to announce particularly during Black History Month.

Gist will also executive produce along with 20th Television Rogers, Rhodes, Gillespie and Robbie. The Gist Of It’s Claire Brown, Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless and Scott Morgan, LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley and Entertainment 360’s Darin Friedman will also executive producer.
Iron Mike is just one of the two Tyson stories in the works. An authorized limited series Jamie Foxx starring is in the works Antoine Fuqua and Martin Scorsese. Tyson is executive producer of that project. No network is attached to it as of yet.
This project reunites Rhodes with Hulu. Rhodes recently starred in The United States vs. Billie Holiday which exclusively streamed on the platform.
The actor will get in the ring later this year when production starts.
