Netflix’s The Night Agent is once again expanding its ensemble with a slate of high-profile additions for Season 4, including Trevante Rhodes, Titus Welliver, Li Jun Li, and Elizabeth Lail, all joining as series regulars opposite Gabriel Basso’s Peter Sutherland.
The hit Sony Pictures Television action thriller is also shifting production from New York to Los Angeles for its upcoming season, marking a new backdrop for Peter’s next chapter as a Night Agent.
As previously established, Peter has thrown himself into his role while attempting to shut out personal attachments after past relationships—most notably with Rose Larkin—put those closest to him in danger. But Season 4 looks set to disrupt that resolve as familiar and new faces enter his orbit.
While Netflix is keeping official character details under wraps, reports indicate Welliver will play Duval, a special DOJ prosecutor investigating Night Action. Rhodes is believed to portray Dom, Peter’s newly assigned partner, while Li Jun Li plays Dom’s wife, Min. Elizabeth Lail is set to appear as Zoe, Peter’s ex-fiancée—a long-teased figure whose existence has only been briefly referenced in earlier seasons.
According to series creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan, Dom’s introduction is designed to challenge Peter’s isolation. Speaking previously to Deadline, Ryan noted that the character was conceived as someone who could show Peter that a Night Agent can, in fact, maintain a personal life and a family. Duval, meanwhile, appears positioned as a major Season 4 antagonist force—one potentially scrutinizing whether Night Action operates as a covert, extrajudicial extension of presidential power.
Ryan has also hinted that Season 4 will continue exploring the moral and political fallout of the program’s actions, particularly following the corruption uncovered in Season 3’s finale.
“The Night Agent” continues its anthology-style approach each season, building new arcs around Peter Sutherland while introducing a largely refreshed supporting cast. Basso remains the only confirmed returning cast member so far, though Ryan has teased additional returning faces.
The new castings follow a pattern for the series, which has increasingly leaned on established television talent amid a tighter post-peak TV landscape. Previous Season 3 additions included Stephen Moyer, Jennifer Morrison, David Lyons, and Ward Horton.
Welliver, best known for his long-running role as LAPD detective Harry Bosch, recently appeared in AMC’s Dark Winds and Sundance-premiered indie Ricky. Rhodes, who earned acclaim for Moonlight, most recently portrayed Mike Tyson in Hulu’s Mike and has appeared in Bird Box, The Predator, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Li Jun Li, known for Wu Assassins, recently appeared in Sinners and is set for HBO’s The Last of Us Season 3 as well as Prime Video’s Spider-Noir. Lail, meanwhile, is known for You, Once Upon a Time, and Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s films.
The Night Agent Season 4 is currently in production. Seasons 1–3 are streaming on Netflix.
