Viola Davis is heading back into action with Ally Clark, a conspiracy thriller in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The Oscar-winning actress will star in the film and produce it through her JuVee Productions banner, reuniting with the studio after the success of G20.
Directed by Phillip Noyce (Salt, Clear and Present Danger), Ally Clark follows Davis as the titular investigator who sets out to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of a close friend. Her search for answers leads her into the heart of a global conspiracy, stretching from the polished halls of Washington, D.C. to the steamy bayous of Louisiana and the frozen wilderness of Alaska.
The script is co-written by Irwin Winkler (Rocky, Goodfellas) and Jose Ruisanchez. Winkler will also produce alongside Charles Winkler, David Winkler, Ruisanchez, and JuVee Productions’ Davis and Julius Tennon. Melanie Clark of JuVee will serve as executive producer.
Ally Clark marks another major collaboration between Davis and Amazon, following G20, which topped Nielsen’s streaming movie chart in its debut week this past April, racking up over 500 million minutes streamed. Davis both starred in and produced the action film, reinforcing JuVee Productions’ commitment to telling inclusive, socially relevant stories.
Davis continues to build a dynamic slate, with upcoming projects including Gina Prince-Bythewood’s adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone. She was recently seen in The Woman King, Air, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. She is represented by CAA and Lasher Group.
Noyce, a veteran in the genre space, brings decades of experience to the film, with credits spanning Dead Calm, Patriot Games, and Rabbit-Proof Fence. He is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content, Fineman Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham.
