‘Will Trent’ Season 4 Trailer: Old Enemies, New Dangers Await the GBI Agent

ABC has released the full trailer for Will Trent Season 4, and this season may be the darkest on yet when the series returns on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. EST. New episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu and Disney+.

The new season picks up five months after the attack on the GBI, which left Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn) fighting for her life. According to the official synopsis, “a figure from Will’s past escapes prison, forcing him to defy orders and launch a search that rips open old wounds and threatens to destroy everything he’s fought to rebuild.” That figure, of course, is James Ulster (Greg Germann)—the man who murdered Will’s mother and left him as an infant in a trash can. Ulster’s return sets the stage for what the trailer promises will be an emotionally intense and dangerous season.

In the trailer, Will struggles to keep his emotions in check as he confronts Ulster, with Angie (Erika Christensen) reminding him, “You didn’t create this guy,” and Will firing back, “No, but he created me.” Fans also catch glimpses of other series regulars—Faith (Iantha Richardson), Nico (Cora Lu Tran), Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), Wilks (Kevin Daniels), and even a pregnant Angie—alongside Will’s loyal chihuahua, Betty, who provides both support and fashion flair.

Therapist Dr. Roach (Margaret Cho) returns, urging Will to confront his feelings instead of suppressing them. The trailer ends on a chilling note, with Ulster taunting Will: “So there is a monster in there after all.” Will’s ominous reply? “Maybe.”

Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling book series, Will Trent follows the GBI agent as he navigates a complicated past in foster care while solving high-profile cases in Georgia. Season 3 tested Will emotionally, forcing him to cope with the accidental death of a child in the line of duty, while Angie faced her own struggles with grief and relapse.

Season 4 promises to explore those storylines further while introducing new threats and challenges, as Will confronts the darkest parts of his past and the ongoing dangers of his present.

Will Trent Season 4 premieres Tuesday, Jan. 6 on ABC, with next-day streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
