Xavier Mills and Quentin Plair are set to star in Hulu’s comedy Chad Powers. Plair joins as a series regular as Coach Byrd while Mills will recur along with recently cast Clayne Crawford (‘The Finestkind’), Colton Ryan (‘Poker Face’), and Toby Huss (‘Fatal Attraction’).
Hulu’s upcoming half-hour comedy series centers on Russ Holliday (Glen Powell), a hotshot quarterback whose bad behavior derails his college football career. In an effort to reclaim his dreams, he adopts a new identity and joins a struggling Southern football team as the charming and skilled Chad Powers. The show is based on a popular Eli Manning sketch that aired on ESPN+.
Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson also star as seris regualrs.
Glen Powell and Michael Waldron co-created ‘Chad Powers,’ co-wrote the pilot, and serve as executive producers for Barnstorm Productions and Anomaly Pictures, respectively. Eli Manning is also on board as an executive producer alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN, through Omaha Productions. Additional executive production comes from Luvh Rakhe and Tony Yacenda, who will also direct the series, with 20th Television as the studio.
Mills is set to make waves in the feature film ‘Undercard’ alongside Wanda Sykes, and he also has a recurring role in Netflix’s ‘Forever.’ His recent projects include supporting roles in ‘The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat’ and AMC’s ‘Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire.’ Plair has been busy with his latest projects, including the indie film ‘Not Without Hope,’ directed by Joe Carnahan, where he stars opposite Zachary Levi. He also appears in Peacock’s ‘Apples Never Fall’ alongside Sam Neill and recently played the lead in Hulu’s ‘Tiny Beautiful Things.’
