Apple TV+ is set to launch an intense new thriller series, based on the best-selling Joona Linna novels by Lars Kepler, starring Zazie Beetz, Liev Schreiber, and Stephen Graham. The yet-to-be-titled series has been given a 10-episode order and is produced by A+E Studios in collaboration with Range Studios.

Schreiber portrays Jonah Lynn, a former soldier turned homicide detective who relocates from the tough streets of Philadelphia to a small town in Western Pennsylvania, seeking a quieter life. However, his peaceful retreat is soon shattered when a cunning serial killer, Jurek Walter (played by Graham), begins terrorizing the town and targeting Jonah’s family.

Beetz will play Saga Bauer, Jonah’s adopted daughter and an FBI agent who is thrust into the investigation. The series follows Jonah’s desperate attempt to protect his loved ones as he sends Saga head-to-head with Jurek in a chilling game of cat and mouse.

The show is adapted from the Joona Linna series of novels, which have sold over 18 million copies globally. The Swedish crime novels are famed for their complex characters and gripping narratives, making them a natural fit for adaptation to screen. The first novel in the series, The Hypnotist, was previously adapted into a 2012 Swedish film.

This high-stakes drama is being co-showrun by Rowan Joffe (Tin Star) and John Hlavin (Shooter), who are also executive producers. Tim Van Patten, best known for his work on The Sopranos and Masters of the Air, will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer as well.

The project is currently set to begin filming this summer in Pittsburgh, with A+E Studios and Range Studios producing. The series is expected to blend thrilling crime procedural elements with deep character-driven drama, making it a highly anticipated addition to Apple TV+’s slate of original content.

In addition to Schreiber and Beetz, Graham’s casting marks an exciting next step in his career following his breakthrough role in Adolescence. With such a strong lineup of talent, this new thriller promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
