’12 12 12′ Trailer Pits Anthony Mackie Against Jamie Dornan in a Bank Heist Told Across Three Timelines

Apple TV released the first trailer for 12 12 12 on Thursday, confirming the eight-episode heist drama’s November 13 premiere. Created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, the series stars Anthony Mackie as a disgraced FBI agent and Jamie Dornan as an American career criminal locked in a cat-and-mouse pursuit across Europe, centered on an elaborate raid on a bank vault beneath the streets of Zurich.

Each episode is structured around three overlapping timelines, the 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the heist itself, and the 12 days that follow, giving the series a layered, nonlinear approach to a genre that typically unfolds in a single chronological line. Mackie and Dornan previously co-starred in the film Synchronic, and Mackie reunites with director Kari Skogland, who directed him throughout The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Skogland directs multiple episodes, including the pilot, and executive produces alongside Mackie and Dornan, with Mackie producing under his Make It With Gravy banner alongside Samantha Corbin-Miller, David Knoller, and Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment.

The project continues a pattern of Mackie moving fluidly between major franchise work and character-driven genre television, following his Marvel commitments with a grounded, ensemble-heavy thriller built around moral ambiguity rather than heroism. That range reflects a broader shift in how leading men with established franchise recognition are increasingly using television to take on messier, less straightforwardly heroic roles than their studio tentpole counterparts typically allow.

The supporting cast includes Jack Kesy, Agathe Rousselle, Sallie Harmsen, José Garcia, and Emmy nominee Kali Reis. The series premieres with two episodes on November 13, airing weekly through a December 25 finale. 12 12 12 is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content.

With three timelines unfolding simultaneously and a finale landing on Christmas Day, the real test for 12 12 12 will be whether its structural ambition pays off narratively, or whether it asks more of viewers than an eight-episode heist thriller can comfortably deliver.
