Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama announced the nominations for the 81st Golden Globe Awards, spotlighting exceptional achievements in film and television over the past year.
Leading the film nominations is “Barbie” with nine nods, followed closely by “Oppenheimer” with eight. Television sees “Succession’s” final season taking the lead with nine nominations, trailed by “The Bear” and “Only Murders in the Building” with five each.
In a departure from tradition, two new categories were introduced: “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures” for films grossing at least $150 million globally (with $100 million from domestic ticket sales) and “Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television” for TV-based stand-up comedy sets lasting at least 30 minutes.
The awards ceremony is set to air live on CBS, January 7, 8-11 p.m. ET, following an NFL doubleheader. Streaming options include Paramount+ and the CBS app.
