OWN is bringing the holiday spirit back with its annual “OWN for the Holidays” event, now in its sixth year, featuring three brand-new original films for the 2024 festive season. The heartwarming lineup will premiere on three consecutive Saturdays in December, with each movie celebrating love, family, and the magic of the holiday season.
OWN President Tina Perry expressed her excitement in a press release, stating, “OWN has long been a pioneer in creating original holiday movies that resonate deeply with Black audiences, showcasing diverse talent at the forefront of our storytelling and bringing families together during this special time of year. We are truly honored to celebrate the season once again with three new films that encapsulate the warmth, joy, and love that our viewers eagerly anticipate year after year.”
The first film, A Season to Remember, will debut on Saturday, December 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Michele Weaver (Love Is) and Nathan Owens (9-1-1), the movie follows sports reporter Symone Gibson, who faces the challenges of working in a male-dominated field. She teams up with freelance photographer Iggy Love, who teaches her not only how to navigate her career but also how to pursue what truly matters in life. In her quest to secure a career-defining story just a week before Christmas, Symone discovers romance, self-confidence, and a new direction.
Next up, Mistletoe & Matrimony premieres on Saturday, December 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. This film stars Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Chicago Med) and Etienne Maurice (Scream Queens). The story centers on Olivia Morris, a cautious wedding planner who is unexpectedly tasked with organizing her younger sister’s Christmas Eve wedding. Things take an emotional turn when Olivia’s ex, Isaiah, returns from overseas to help with the wedding, reigniting sparks between the two. Olivia must decide whether she’s ready to step out of her comfort zone and take a chance on love again.
Rounding out the lineup is 24-Karat Christmas, airing on Saturday, December 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Samantha Marie Ware (All Rise) and Curtis Hamilton (Insecure), the film follows Trish, a jewelry designer who mistakenly sends a set of Christmas wedding bands to the wrong person. She teams up with the charismatic best man, Book Mosely, to recover the rings before the big day. Along the way, they realize that finding love sometimes means going after it yourself.
Produced by FOX Entertainment Studios’ MarVista Entertainment, these movies promise to bring festive cheer to screens, and for those who can’t catch them live, they’ll be available to stream on Max after their network premieres.
