AMC has officially pulled the plug on Parish, the crime drama starring Giancarlo Esposito, after just one season. The series, which premiered in MARCH with a six-episode run, was adapted from the British drama The Driver and followed Esposito’s character, Gracian “Gray” Parish, a family man-turned-wheelman navigating the dangerous criminal underworld of New Orleans.

The cast also featured Zackary Momoh, Bonnie Mbuli, Ivan Mbakop, Arica Himmel, and Bradley Whitford, with Amanda Brugel guest-starring. In a statement, AMC expressed their appreciation for the show’s creative team and star-studded cast, which also included Skeet Ulrich and Paula Malcomson.
“We’re so proud of ‘Parish,’ and thankful for the creative talent involved and the performances they were able to bring to the screen, starting with the remarkable Giancarlo Esposito, Skeet Ulrich and the entire cast. We are unfortunately unable to proceed with a second season, but season one will remain available on AMC+ to fans who want to relive this thrill ride of a series and those yet to discover it.”
The series centered on Parish, who was trying to rebuild his life after the tragic murder of his son and the collapse of his luxury car service business. A run-in with an old friend from his wheelman days thrusts him back into a violent criminal syndicate, setting up a high-stakes collision course with dangerous figures.
Parish was created by Danny Brocklehurst and Jim Poyser, with Brocklehurst also serving as executive producer alongside Esposito, Eduardo Javier Canto, Ryan Maldonado, and others. The series was produced by AMC Studios in partnership with A+E Studios and Thruline Entertainment.
This marks the second time AMC has canceled a series featuring a former Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star after just one season, following the network’s decision to end Lucky Hank starring Bob Odenkirk in DECEMBER 2023.
