WOLV3S ONLY FILMS has announced Expect Me Tomorrow, an emotionally charged dramatic feature written, directed by and starring Tyris Terrell McKnight, set for release in 2027.
Set in New Orleans, the film follows Gregory Marks, a Vietnam War veteran whose life after combat has been shaped by psychological wounds, fractured relationships and years of unresolved pain. When Gregory receives devastating news about his health, he is forced to confront the one battle he can no longer avoid: the damage left behind within his own family. With time suddenly working against him, Gregory begins a deeply personal journey toward reconciliation, attempting to repair relationships with his wife and children while confronting the choices, trauma and regret that have followed him for decades.
McKnight stars as Gregory alongside Trina LaFargue as his wife Neema, Johnathan Thomas Jones as eldest son Richard, Toni Monroe as middle child Tracy and Justin Hill as youngest son Travis Sr.
“Expect Me Tomorrow is ultimately a story about time, how much of it we think we have and what happens when we realize we may not have enough,” McKnight said. “Gregory has spent years carrying wounds from war while creating wounds within his own family. When his mortality becomes real, he has to decide whether he will leave those wounds behind or finally confront them. This film is about family, accountability, forgiveness and the difficult work of trying to make things right before tomorrow is no longer promised.”
The New Orleans setting plays an integral role in the film’s visual and emotional identity, providing a backdrop for a story centered on memory, family and the complicated relationship between the past and present.
Expect Me Tomorrow is produced by WOLV3S ONLY FILMS, an independent production company founded by McKnight that develops character-driven film and television projects rooted in the Black American experience. The film is slated for 2027.
