Disney+ revealed the guest cast, premiere date, and poster art Tuesday for A Proud Family Wizmas, a new stop-motion holiday special premiering Saturday, November 14. New guest voices include Anderson .Paak, Lil Rel Howery, JB Smoove, Karlous Miller, Tone Loc, Earthquake, Luenell, and Affion Crockett, alongside the return of Gabrielle Union as Talia Rogue.
The song-filled special follows Penny Proud after she accidentally destroys Christmas and reluctantly sets out to save the holiday for the children of Emilyville and the world. The project reunites the full cast of The Proud Family franchise, including Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, JoMarie Payton, Cedric the Entertainer, Karen Malina White, Soleil Moon Frye, Alisa Reyes, Carlos Mencia, Alvaro Gutierrez, Raquel Lee Bolleau, and Melissa De Sousa, continuing a franchise built around one of animation’s longest-running Black family ensembles.
The special is produced by Disney Television Animation, directed by series creator Bruce W. Smith, and written by executive producer Ralph Farquhar through BaR Productions, with David Brooks co-directing alongside Portland-based stop-motion studio HouseSpecial. Kurt Farquhar returns as composer, contributing six new original songs to the special. Fans can stream the original Proud Family series, Louder and Prouder, and the feature film on Disney+ ahead of the premiere.
With the franchise now stretching across three series, a film, and this new holiday special, the real question is how much further Disney plans to expand The Proud Family‘s world, and whether this stop-motion format becomes a recurring format for future installments.
