Apple TV has released the official trailer for Ted Lasso Season 4, and along with it comes the confirmation that Abbie Hern is among the new faces joining the new season.
In Season 4, Ted, played by Jason Sudeikis, returns to Richmond to take on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. The trailer reunites fan favorites Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift while introducing a wave of new faces.
Hern, known for My Lady Jane, joins the cast as Gemma, a star player and ambitious forward on AFC Richmond’s newly formed women’s team, the Lady Greyhounds. She joins fellow new additions Tanya Reynolds as Alice Chilton, co-coach of the women’s team, alongside Faye Marsay, Jude Mack, Aisling Sharkey, Rex Hayes and Grant Feely as Ted’s son Henry.
The trailer’s most emotional moment comes at the end, when Coach Beard tells a new player “Football is life,” quoting the beloved catchphrase of Dani Rojas, played by Cristo Fernández across the first three seasons. “No, life is so much more than football,” the player responds, with Ted acknowledging, “Not as catchy, but true.” Fernández will not return for Season 4, along with original cast members Phil Dunster and Toheeb Jimoh, as the shift to a women’s team naturally moves the story away from the men’s squad.
Ted Lasso originally debuted on Apple TV in 2020 and quickly became a global phenomenon, racking up 13 Emmy wins and 61 nominations across its first three seasons, including back-to-back wins for Outstanding Comedy Series. The show has been viewed for more than 25 billion minutes worldwide. The fourth season was announced in March 2025 following speculation that Season 3 had been the end.
Jason Sudeikis stars in and executive produces alongside Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, Bill Wrubel and Brett Goldstein. Bill Lawrence executive produces via his Doozer Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres August 5 on Apple TV with ten episodes dropping weekly through October 7.
