Abbott Elementary is heading into its most milestone-laden season yet. As the Emmy Award-winning ABC comedy returns for Season 6, it is on track to become one of the first network sitcoms of the 2020s to reach 100 episodes, a rare feat in the current television landscape.
The 100th episode will arrive in Season 6 episode 7, expected to air sometime in either November or December, making Abbott Elementary the first still-airing series to cross the finish line ahead of fellow CBS comedy Ghosts, which needs just 6 episodes to hit the same mark but premieres later on October 29. The only other network show that premiered after 2020 to reach the milestone is FBI: Most Wanted, which concluded its run in May 2025 with 108 total episodes. Together these three shows represent an elite and nearly extinct achievement in modern television. In an era where streaming series are often capped at 10 episodes or fewer per season, traditional network syndication math no longer adds up the way it once did, making 100 episodes a milestone that almost no scripted series launched after 2020 has been able to reach.
Star Tyler James Williams noted on social media that despite his 30-year acting career, Abbott Elementary is the first project he has ever worked on to reach the milestone. Creator Quinta Brunson becomes one of the few showrunners of the streaming era to pull it off.
The series stars Quinta Brunson as Janine, Tyler James Williams as Gregory, Janelle James as Ava, Chris Perfetti as Jacob, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson and Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa.
When Season 5 left off, Janine had saved Abbott from a district plan to shut down 20 schools, though the school will now be absorbing more students as a result. Gregory was named the new assistant principal and quietly revealed his intention to propose to Janine, with his fellow teachers now in on the secret. Whether the proposal comes at or near the 100th episode remains to be seen, but the timing would make for a fitting milestone moment for fans who have been rooting for the couple since the beginning.

Abbott Elementary Season 6 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 8:30/7:30c on ABC and streams on Hulu the following day.
