Aldis Hodge to Lead and Produce Alex Cross Series For Amazon Studios

Following the cancellation of City on a Hill, Aldis Hodge has already lined up his next TV gig. Hodge has been cast as the titular character in Amazon Studios upcoming Alex Cross series.

The streamer has given a series order to the drama series based on James Patterson’s series of novels by the same name which has been in the works for more than two years.

The Alex Cross series will center on Hodge’s title character, a detective and forensic psychologist who’s uniquely capable of digging into the minds of killers and victims in order to identify and catch them. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife’s murder has left him too damaged to receive it.

Hodge is a producer in addition to starring. Ben Watkins serves as showrunner and executive produces the series from Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television.

Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, and Craig Siebels also executive produce, with James Patterson, Bill Robinson, and Patrick Santa executive producing for James Patterson Entertainment, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost executive producing for Skydance Television.

The Cross character is featured in 29 novels by Patterson with the Alex Cross book series has been adapted into three feature films. Morgan Freeman was the first actor to bring the character to life in 1997’s Kiss The Girls and again in 2001’s Along Came a Spider. Tyler Perry followed with the 2012 reboot film Alex Cross.

Cross is the third Prime Video series for Paramount TV Studios and Skydance TV, after Jack Ryan and Reacher. Like Cross, the others are also based on best-selling novel series.

Currently Hodge is starring opposite Dwayne Johnson in the DC Comics feature film Black Adam and recently wrapped starring in City on a Hill finished. Hodge can also be seen on Leverage: Redemption where he reprises the role of Alec Hardison. Up next (movie wise) he is starring opposite his brother Edwin Hodge in Parallel. He is also set to star opposite Joe Keery and Camila Morrone in the upcoming film, Marmalade, a romantic heist from director Keir O’Donnell.
