Andre Holland is set to star in The Revisionist, the feature directorial debut from Alex Vlack. The drama, written by Vlack, is currently filming in Louisville, KY, and boasts an impressive cast including two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman, Alison Brie, and Tom Sturridge.
In The Revisionist, the story centers on Elise, a successful novelist who pushes creative boundaries by manipulating and transforming the people in her life into the characters she needs for her writing. As she blurs the line between fiction and reality, the narrative explores secrets, betrayal, and the psychological lengths writers take to achieve their art.
Vlack, known for his work on the Bill Withers documentary Still Bill, also produces the film alongside Arielle Elwes, Veronica Radaelli, Zachary Spicer, Fiona Robert, and Sophia Robert. Cassian Elwes, Paul Robarts, Andy Steinman, Jeffrey Michael Deary, Hunter Gray, Gordon Strain, and Jeremy Chilnick serve as executive producers. WME Independent is handling global sales.
Dustin Hoffman, whose legendary career includes The Graduate, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, and Rain Man, recently appeared in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. He is also set to star in Peter Greenaway’s untitled project and Daniel Roher’s thriller Tuner.
Andre Holland continues to expand his already notable portfolio. He stars in Love, Brooklyn, premiering at Sundance, as well as Titus Kaphar’s Exhibiting Forgiveness. Holland recently led Apple TV+’s Big Cigar and will soon appear in The Dutchman, a feature adaptation of Amiri Baraka’s play, alongside Kate Mara and Zazie Beetz.
Alison Brie, a SAG Award winner and two-time Golden Globe nominee, will appear in the Sundance premiere Together with Dave Franco and is set to begin production on Masters of the Universe as Evil-Lyn. She is also confirmed to reprise her role as Annie Edison in the Community feature film. Brie most recently starred in Peacock’s Apples Never Fall.
Tom Sturridge, widely recognized for his role as Dream in Netflix’s The Sandman, recently led the film Widow Clicquot, which premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. His previous work includes HBO’s Irma Vep opposite Alicia Vikander.
The Revisionist marks an ambitious new direction for Vlack, with a story that blends psychological tension and literary drama, brought to life by a stellar ensemble cast.
