Andre Royo joins the cast of Amazon’s holiday romantic comedy series With Love. He joins previously cast Rome Flynn, Isis King, Todd Grinnell, Desmond Chiam, Emeraude Tobia and Mark Indelicato.
“One Day at a Time” co-creator Gloria Calderón Kellett created and wrote With Love which follows the Diaz siblings, Lily (Toubia) and Jorge (Indelicato) who are on a mission to find love and purpose. The Diaz siblings cross paths with seemingly unrelated residents during some of the most heightened days of the year — the holidays.
Royo joins the series in a recurring role and will appear as Santiago’s (Flynn) father, Laz Zayas. He is a proud Afro-Cuban man. He runs a furniture building company with his son and is a master woodworker. He is hardworking, devoted to his family, but has been hiding a secret.
Flynn will play Santiago Zayas, a modern Afro-Cuban American Mr. Darcy. Well educated and prefers books to TV. A man of few words, but lots of heart for the right person.
King will portray Sol Perez, Lily and Jorge’s cousin on their mom’s side. They are a trans non-binary oncology resident who is finally opening themselves up to love with a handsome doctor they work with.
Grinnell is Dr. Miles Murphy, a reconstructive plastic surgeon with a good heart who has eyes for Sol Perez. Chiam plays Nick Zhao, Jorge’s best friend and roommate. This hottie has never taken love seriously until now.
With Love comes from Calderón Kellett and her GloNation Studios and Amazon Studios. The one-hour romantic comedy series is the first of Calderón Kellett’s projects set under her overall deal with Amazon Studios. Calderón Kellett will write and executive produce the series via her production company, GloNation, and Meera Menon will direct and executive produce the pilot episode.
The show is set to launch during the holiday season later this year.
