Today, at New York Comic Con, Apple TV+ revealed the trailer for its forthcoming series, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” The series is based on Legendary’s Monsterverse and will premiere on Apple TV+, November 17, 2023. The presentation at New York Comic Con was followed by a conversation with the show’s executive producers and creative team.

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” boasts a star-studded cast, including Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. The series will debut with the first two episodes on November 17, followed by one episode every Friday until January 12, 2024.

The show picks up after the monumental battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, revealing the existence of real monsters. “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” follows two siblings on a journey to uncover their family’s mysterious ties to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into a world of monsters, unveiling a dramatic saga spanning three generations and unearthing buried secrets.

The story unfolds in the 1950s and jumps half a century later, where Monarch faces new threats. Army officer Lee Shaw, portrayed by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, takes center stage, and the show promises to explore how epic, earth-shattering events can ripple through our lives.

At the New York Comic Con event, executive producers Chris Black and Matt Fraction, executive producer Tory Tunnell, executive producer and director Andy Goddard, casting director Ronna Kress, and VFX supervisor Sean Konrad provided insights into the making of the series. The discussion was moderated by entertainment journalist Scott Mantz, shedding light on the creative process and the show’s unique approach to storytelling.

Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse began with “Godzilla” in 2014, followed by “Kong: Skull Island” in 2017, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” in 2019, and “Godzilla vs. Kong” in 2021. This cinematic universe has been a tremendous success, amassing nearly two billion dollars globally. It presents a world where the monsters of our myths and legends are real, and humanity faces its greatest battle for survival.
