Arsema Thomas Joins Damson Idris in Netflix’s Political Thriller Series ‘The Lords’ Day’

Netflix’s political thriller The Lords’ Day is building out its cast. Arsema Thomas, Harry Lawtey, Sophie Willan, Gemma Whelan and Timothy Spall have all joined the six-part series starring Damson Idris, which is based on the novel by Michael Dobbs, the writer behind House of Cards and a member of the House of Lords himself.

Idris stars as Harry Jones, a British spy who finds himself inside the Palace of Westminster during the State Opening of Parliament as a hostage siege escalates around him. With loyalties tested and selfless sacrifices made, Harry must use his skills and training to fight for survival and potentially save the country, complicated by the fact that he is also a convicted traitor.

Thomas, known for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and She Taught Love, joins Lawtey, fresh off three seasons of BBC and HBO’s Industry and Joker: Folie à Deux. Willan is known for Alma’s Not Normal, Whelan for Game of Thrones and Killing Eve, and Spall for The Sixth Commandment.

The series is written by Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent, the creators of Spooks and Humans, and directed by Ben Chanan (The Capture, The Missing). Idris also executive produces alongside Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch and Joel Collins for Bad Wolf, the production company behind Industry and His Dark Materials.

A release date for The Lords’ Day has not yet been announced.
