Paramount+ Drops Trailer for Season Two of Diarra From Detroit, Premiering July 29

Diarra wants a hot girl summer. Detroit, as always, has other plans.

Paramount+ has unveiled the trailer and key art for the second season of Diarra From Detroit, the critically acclaimed series created by, written by and starring Diarra Kilpatrick. The eight-episode season premieres July 29 with two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through September 9.

Season two finds Diarra attempting a well-deserved break that almost immediately spirals. What starts as a routine furniture recovery mission pulls her into a triple homicide investigation, a citywide treasure hunt, a secret society, gang warfare and secrets buried beneath Detroit itself.

Kilpatrick returns alongside DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark, Jon Chaffin, Shannon Wallace, Phylicia Rashad and Harry Lennix. The guest star lineup is stacked with Method Man, Morris Chestnut, Glynn Turman, Bokeem Woodbine, Amber Riley, Lil Rel Howery, Lovie Simone, Shoniqua Shandai, Nicco Annan, Skilla Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Chris “CP” Powell and Jude Demorest.

The series arrives off one of the stronger debut seasons in recent streaming memory. Deadline, Rolling Stone and The Hollywood Reporter all named it among their top ten shows of the year. It earned nominations from both the NAACP Image Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards, while Kilpatrick took home a Gracie Award for Actress in a Breakthrough Role.

The series is executive produced by Kilpatrick alongside Kenya Barris and Miles Orion Feldsott, who also serves as showrunner, and is produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society.

Season one of Diarra From Detroit is currently streaming on Paramount+.
