‘The Bear’ Stars Ayo Edebiri and Lionel Boyce Join Conclave Live Read Cast

The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri and Lionel Boyce are taking their talents to the Vatican—sort of. The duo just joined the cast of Film Independent’s Conclave live read, happening monday, february 10 at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

They’re in good company too. The cast includes Cooper Koch (Monsters), Josh Gad (Book of Mormon), Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth), Patton Oswalt (Young Adult), and Eugenio Derbez (CODA). Peter Straughan, the film’s Golden Globe-winning screenwriter, will narrate, with filmmaker Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) as guest director.

Based on Robert Harris’ novel, Conclave is a political thriller that dives into the power plays and secrets behind a papal election. After the Pope’s sudden death, 118 cardinals gather at the Vatican to choose the next leader of the Catholic Church. Let’s just say not everyone’s playing by the rules. Alliances are made and broken, and hidden agendas are everywhere.

The film version of Conclave has been stacking nominations this awards season: eight Oscars (including Best Picture), 12 BAFTA nods, six Golden Globe nominations, and major wins like the National Board of Review’s Best Ensemble Award and the AFI Award for Movie of the Year.

Film Independent’s Live Reads always bring a fresh twist to your favorite films and scripts, with past events featuring Anatomy of a Fall and Back to the Future. It’s no surprise tickets for this one sold out in just three hours.
