Betty Gabriel (Get Out) has been announced as one of the final cast members in Legion M’s upcoming thriller Fade to Black, the feature directorial debut of Andrew Sandler.
Written by Brandon Cohen, the film centers on Amit (played by Karan Soni), a screenwriter desperate to make his mark in the cutthroat world of Hollywood. After an accidental death sparks a disturbing revelation, Amit begins mirroring the fictional serial killer in his script, committing murders in a chilling attempt to turn his screenplay into a marketable intellectual property. Fade to Black offers a darkly comedic dive into the themes of ambition, madness, and the harsh realities of the entertainment industry.
Character specifics for Gabriel and the rest of the cast remain under wraps, but production is currently underway in Los Angeles. Joining the ensemble alongside Gabriel are Max Carver (The Leftovers), Katerina Tanenbaum (You), John Carroll Lynch (The Trial of the Chicago 7), Joseph Lee (Beef), and Zosia Mamet (The Flight Attendant). Additional cast members include Johnno Wilson (I Love That for You), Veronika Dash (Isabel’s Garden), Scott Evans (Barbie), Thomas Barbusca (The Mick), Annie Gonzalez (Flamin’ Hot), and Caylee Cowan (Sunrise in Heaven).
The film is being produced under Legion M by Paul Scanlan and David Baxter, alongside Brent Craft of Craftsmen Media Co. and Andrew Carlberg (Skin, Mutt). Randall Einhorn (Abbott Elementary, The Office), Danny Hamouie, Jeff Annison, and Chris Boshuizen serve as executive producers. Jamie Castro handled casting for the project.
“We’re beyond thrilled with how the cast of Fade to Black has come together,” said producer Brent Craft in a statement. “The stellar talents of Betty Gabriel, Thomas Barbusca, and Annie Gonzalez offer a dynamic addition to our ensemble.”
Fade to Black is one of several upcoming releases from Legion M. The company’s true-crime thriller The Man in the White Van will premiere in theaters on December 13 through Relativity, while their SXSW Audience Award-winning film My Dead Friend Zoe is set for release in February via Briarcliff.
