Prime Video drops trailer for its upcoming heartwarming new series ‘Beyond Black Beauty,’ inspired by the classic 1877 novel by Anna Sewell. The series led by Kaya Coleman will premiere on the streamer, October 15th.
Reimagined as a contemporary coming-of-age story, the series centers around Jolie Dumont (Coleman), a fiercely determined equestrian with dreams of Olympic glory. However, her ambitions take an unexpected detour when her mother abruptly relocates them from the elite stables of Belgium to an urban ranch in Baltimore, deeply rooted in a legacy of Black cowboys.
In this new environment, Jolie struggles to adjust, feeling out of place and yearning for her former life. However, her bond with Black Beauty, a spirited horse mirroring her own tenacity, becomes a pivotal force in her journey. As Jolie navigates her new world, she learns to embrace the ranch’s rich heritage and the value of family, ultimately redefining her path forward.
The cast also includes Sagine Sémajuste (’13: The Musical’) as Jolie’s mother, Janelle, Gina James (‘Hogtown: Code\Switch’), Lisa Berry (‘Workin’ Moms’), and Gilles Marini (‘Sex and the City’).
The official trailer and key art were recently unveiled, giving audiences a first glimpse into Jolie’s transformative journey. Watch below.
All eleven episodes of ‘Beyond Black Beauty’ will be available for streaming on Prime Video in the US and UK starting October 15.

Produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, Leif Films, Saga Film, and Amazon MGM Studios, the series boasts a talented lineup of executive producers, including Pilar Golden, who also serves as the show’s creator and showrunner, alongside Carla de Jong, Blair Powers, J.J. Johnson, Leif Bristow, Agnes Bristow, Hubert Toint, and Christin Simms.
