The women of Beyond the Gates received their flowers in Beverly Hills as IMPACT Magazine brought together Black women shaping television for its inaugural Black Women Defining Television Beauty Lounge & Luncheon Experience.
Held Wednesday, October 28, at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, the gathering celebrated actresses Karla Mosley, Jasmine Burke and Ambyr Michelle, recognizing their contributions to the CBS daytime drama at a pivotal moment for the series. Each honoree received an individual IMPACT Magazine digital cover, giving the women a personal spotlight beyond the luncheon itself.
The celebration came as Beyond the Gates made its awards debut with 15 Daytime Emmy nominations in 2026, making it the second most-nominated program of the year behind The Young and the Restless, which earned 18 nominations. General Hospital followed with 13, while Days of Our Lives received eight.
The nominations include Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Lead Actress recognition for Mosley as Dani Dupree and Tamara Tunie as Anita Williams Dupree, and supporting acting nominations for Trisha Mann-Grant, Timon Kyle Durrett and Mike Manning. Burke earned a nomination for Outstanding Guest Performance, while Michelle was nominated for Outstanding Emerging Talent. The series also received nominations across writing, music direction, technical direction, lighting, hairstyling and makeup, and casting.
Throughout the luncheon, the show’s 15 nominations remained a recurring point of celebration, underscoring the work of the cast and creative team behind the series. One of the day’s standout moments came when executive producer Sheila Ducksworth received a standing ovation in recognition of her work bringing the show to life. Her recognition added another layer to a gathering centered on the women whose contributions shape what audiences see on television, both in front of and behind the camera.
Hosted by Jordan Coleman, the actress known for her work on Tyler Perry’s Sistas, the luncheon also brought together talent and creatives connected to the broader Tyler Perry television community. Essence Atkins was among the notable attendees, adding to a room celebrating the women who have helped shape television across generations.
The event’s theme, “Becoming,” centered on the experiences, decisions, risks and evolution that shape women beyond their professional accomplishments. Rather than functioning as a traditional awards gathering, the experience was designed to create space for conversations about the women behind television’s cultural influence and the journeys that brought them to this point.
The Beauty Lounge on the hotel’s Grand Terrace featured Black-owned beauty, wellness, lifestyle and consumer brands, including Omoyeni, which showcased its Urban Denim Collection. Tab & Chance, founded by Tabitha and Chance Brown, served as a Foundational Brand Partner, while Executive Life, led by entrepreneur and technology executive Torrance Hill, served as the Garden Lounge Partner. Tyna Edwards of Bravo’s Sold on SLC hosted conversations and interviews in the Garden Lounge.
ELMNT13, founded by Ashley Taylor, served as the event’s Production Partner, bringing together the creative and experiential elements of the gathering.
Founded by Tunisha Brown, IMPACT Magazine has grown from a community-focused publication launched in 2007 into a national print and digital platform covering Black achievement, culture, leadership and change-makers. The inaugural luncheon extended that mission into television, creating a space for Black women in the industry to be recognized not only for what they have accomplished, but also for the influence they continue to build.
For the Beyond the Gates honorees, the individual covers served as a tangible reminder of that recognition. In a room filled with peers, supporters and fellow creatives, the celebration offered the women an opportunity to take in the show’s accomplishments together while being honored as individual voices within the television landscape.
