Blair Underwood, Retta to Guest Star on CBS New Series ‘Elsbeth’

Blair Underwood, Retta, Jane Krakowski, and Linda Lavin are set to star in CBS’s upcoming series “Elsbeth,” a spinoff of “The Good Wife.” Set to premiere on February 29, the show stars Carrie Preston, Wendell Pierce, and Carra Patterson.

The series centers on Elsbeth, portrayed by Preston, who relocates from her successful legal career in Chicago to take on a new investigative role in New York City. There, she finds herself in a dynamic partnership with Captain C.W. Wagner (Wendell Pierce), a charismatic and revered leader. Alongside Elsbeth is Officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson), a stoic and ethical officer who quickly appreciates Elsbeth’s insightful and offbeat approach.

Blair Underwood, known for “L.A. Law” and “Quantico,” takes on the role of a devoted father and coach of a rising tennis star. Underwood’s character is so committed to his son’s career that he makes a murderous mistake.

Retta, of “Parks and Recreation” and “Good Girls” fame, plays Margo, the top matchmaker to New York’s rich and impossible to please. Jane Krakowski, recognized for her roles in “30 Rock” and “Ally McBeal,” portrays Joann, a high-powered Manhattan real estate broker with significant clients and even bigger secrets.

Linda Lavin, reprising her role from “The Good Wife” as Gloria, the co-op board president from hell, adds a touch of intrigue to the cast.

Jonathan Tolins, showrunner and executive producer, expressed excitement about the diverse and complex characters, saying, “We are so thrilled to have such wonderful actors join us in such a diverse assortment of complex and interesting characters on Elsbeth. “Elsbeth” is produced by CBS Studios, with Robert King and Michelle King, Emmy winners for their work on “The Good Wife,” serving as writers and executive producers. The show aims to follow the success of “The Good Fight,” celebrated for its timely storylines, diverse cast, and strong female characters.
