Unveiling “The Book of Clarence” Trailer: A Glimpse into a Biblical Epic, Star-Studded Cast and Music

Filmmaker and musician Jeymes Samuel has teamed up with Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks for “Hallelujah Heaven,” the lead track from the upcoming film, “The Book of Clarence.” Samuel, who serves as the director, writer, producer, and composer, expressed enthusiasm for working with these artists.

Scheduled for a January 2024 release, the film stars LaKeith Stanfield as Clarence, a man in 33 AD Jerusalem who, after encountering Jesus Christ, embarks on a journey to become a messiah himself. The cast includes Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Alfre Woodard, David Oyelowo, Teyana Taylor, Anna Diop, James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Michael Ward.

Accompanying the musical release is a trailer that provides a glimpse into the world of “The Book of Clarence.” The soundtrack, featuring Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Jorge Ben Jor, Adekunle Gold, Jorja Smith, Yemi Alade, and others, adds to the film’s anticipation.

“The Book of Clarence” is a biblical epic that follows the story of Clarence, a destitute man navigating the same era as Jesus Christ. The film explores themes of spirituality, sorcery, and the complexities that arise when the Romans become involved.

Jeymes Samuel, known for his visionary work on “The Harder They Fall,” both directs and writes “The Book of Clarence.” The film, which had its world premiere at the London Film Festival on October 11, has received acclaim from critics for its unique perspective and sun-dappled cinematography by Rob Hardy.

The highly anticipated movie is set for a theatrical release on January 12, 2024. A teaser trailer has already been released, offering a glimpse into the film’s Christ-adjacent world. Check out the trailer below.
