The Bosch universe is expanding with two additional Bosch spinoff police dramas inspired by Michael Connelly’s bestselling works. Both shows are in development at Amazon Studios.

The first untitled show follows Harry Bosch’s former partner, Detective Jerry Edgar, who is assigned to an undercover FBI mission in Little Haiti, Miami. In this city, Detective Edgar must balance his new life with the gritty underbelly of the city, while being chased by his mysterious past. Jamie Hector, who starred alongside Titus Welliver in the original Bosch series, is in talks to reprise his role in this new show.
The second show, “Untitled Renee Ballard,” centers around a new character, Detective Renee Ballard, who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division. Detective Ballard is dedicated to bringing credibility to the department and justice to the community, and she solves cases in unconventional ways while navigating the politics of being a woman on the rise in the LAPD.
The original Bosch series was a Prime Video exclusive, while the first Bosch spinoff “Bosch: Legacy” is for its sibling Freevee. It has not been determined yet what platform the new shows will be on.

The “Bosch: Legacy” series received an early renewal for Season 2, even before its first episode aired. The show is produced by Fabel Entertainment and is executive produced by Michael Connelly, Eric Overmyer, Tom Bernardo, Henrik Bastin, Pieter Jan Brugge, and Titus Welliver. Season 2 is slated to premiere this fall.
“Bosch” was Amazon’s first original drama series and was the longest-running original series for the streaming service, with seven seasons. The series was based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling books and starred Titus Welliver in the title role.
