Bounce TV Cancels Freshman Series 'Act Your Age'

Bounce TV has decided not to renew ‘Act Your Age,’ the comedy featuring Kym Whitley, Tisha Campbell, and Yvette Nicole Brown, after just one season.

Alyson Fouse, the show’s creator, shared the news on Twitter: “I’m sorry to say that my show “Act Your Age” will not be returning to @bounce for a second season. The first season will, however, be available on @netflix early next year. Thank you to everyone who watched and supported. It meant the world to us. ❤️”

Despite being the most-watched half-hour series on Bounce TV and ranking among the top three new comedies of the season, the unexpected cancellation raises eyebrows. The series premiered on March 4 and garnered 2.14 million viewers in its debut telecasts in March, setting a record as the most-watched half-hour series launch in Bounce history.

“Act Your Age,” produced in collaboration with MGM, follows the stories of three dynamic, successful women in their 50s in the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia area. Facing personal crossroads, they decide to navigate life together. The main cast includes Kym Whitley, Tisha Campbell, and special guest star Yvette Nicole Brown. Whitley portrays Bernadette, a no-nonsense real estate developer; Campbell is Keisha, the unpredictable wildcard of the group, and Brown takes on the role of Angela, the former First Lady of Norfolk, Virginia, seeking to redefine her life after the loss of her husband, a respected career politician.

The multi-generational sitcom also features Mariah Robinson and Nathan Anderson as the 20-something children of Angela and Bernadette, respectively.

Alyson Fouse, known for her work on “Big Shot,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” and “The Wanda Sykes Show,” created and served as the showrunner and executive producer of “Act Your Age.” The series, produced by MGM Television, is executive produced by Barry Poznick, Bradley Gardner, and David Hudson, with co-executive producers Ranada Shepard and Ken Ornstein.
