BET+ is getting us into the holiday spirit with the announcement of its upcoming original movie ‘Brewster’s Millions: Christmas.’ This new release serves as a reimagining of the 1985 comedy ‘Brewster’s Millions,’ which was based on the novel by George Barr McCutcheon and starring the late Richard Pryor as Montgomery Brewster
In a tribute to Richard Pryor’s iconic portrayal, his son, Richard Pryor Jr., will step into the role of Montgomery Brewster for this project, with Pryor’s daughter Rain playing the role of Opal. The film also features an ensemble cast including China Anne McClain, Romeo Miller, Telma Hopkins, Tequan Richmond, and Sierra McClain.
Scheduled to premiere on December 5, the film wrapped production with a storyline that centers on Morgan Brewster, played by China Anne McClain. The screenplay, written and directed by Patricia Cuffie Jones, is based on a story by Joseph Nasser and Patricia Cuffie Jones, inspired by the original novel by George Barr McCutcheon.
‘Brewster’s Millions: Christmas’ follows Morgan Brewster (McClain) as she embarks on a whirlwind adventure to claim her uncle Montgomery’s inheritance before Christmas. Surrounded by the festive chaos of the holiday season, Morgan and her companions discover the true meaning of Christmas through the act of giving.
Miller portrays Andrew, Hopkins is Mrs. Brewster, Richmond stars as Big TY, and Sierra McClain as Toya.
Richard Pryor Jr. expressed his pride in taking on the role his father made famous, saying, “As the son of Richard Pryor, I was so proud to have the opportunity to step into the shoes, although briefly, of the unforgettable character Monty Brewster. It was truly an honor and a pleasure working with Joseph Nasser and Matthew Nasser.”
Rain Pryor also shared her thoughts on the experience, noting, “Working in ‘Brewster’s Millions: Christmas’ has been an honor. From the cast to the director Patricia Cuffie Jones and the producers Joseph and Matthew Nasser, it felt like family. I know my Daddy was watching from above.”
