Beyond the Gates, the CBS daytime drama and winner of four 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards, welcomes Bryton James and Christel Khalil from The Young and the Restless to Fairmont Crest in a special episode airing Wednesday, November 4.
In the episode, Anita Dupree, played by Daytime Emmy winner Tamara Tunie, and The Articulettes return to the studio to record a new EP, with Devon Winters, played by James, stepping back into his music-producer roots to help. He’s joined by his sister Lily, played by Khalil, a lifelong fan of the group who gets completely starstruck meeting her idols. The episode also includes a heartfelt on-screen tribute to Devon and Lily’s late father, Neil Winters, originally played by the late Kristoff St. John, with Vernon Dupree, played by Clifton Davis, and Anita sharing a moment with the siblings reflecting on their family’s deep past connection to Neil. Elsewhere in the episode, the show continues threads involving Leslie’s scheming, a dramatic turn in Kat and Eva’s relationship, and a tense exchange between Deanna and Randy.
The episode marks James’s third appearance on Beyond the Gates and Khalil’s first, continuing a crossover relationship between the two CBS soaps that began with a larger, multi-episode event in June 2026. That earlier crossover centered on a political fundraiser for Congressman Martin Richardson at Fairmont Crest, bringing together Young and the Restless veterans including Victor Newman, Jack Abbott, Diane Jenkins Abbott, Kyle Abbott, and Abby Newman alongside the Beyond the Gates cast, an event that ended in a dramatic storm disrupting the gathering with lasting consequences for both shows.
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS from 2:00 to 3:00 PM ET and streams on Paramount+. The series was created by head writer Michele Val Jean and is produced by CBS Studios as part of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in partnership with P&G Studios. Executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld, and Lela Coffey.
