Lil Duval’s horror-comedy Camp Duval: Ain’t Nobody Dying Today is expanding its rollout, adding an interactive video game to the App Store and Google Play, alongside a limited AMC Theaters run in 10 markets from September 30 through October 2.
The film itself follows Duval as he buys a rundown former summer camp and invites a group of fellow comics for a weekend comedy retreat. What begins as a chance to sharpen their stand-up routines spirals into a fight for survival when a vengeful ghost starts picking off the comedians in ironic, over-the-top ways, forcing Duval and his crew to dig into the camp’s dark past and save themselves through the power of comedy. The film stars Duval, JaySki, Just Brittany, Erica Duchess, Nod Ross, and MoneyBags Mafia, with Tyler Chronicles and Navv Greene.
The release follows the film’s earlier premiere tour, which brought Swirl Films and Duval’s project through a run of experiential stops. The tour kicked off in Duval’s hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, at Cinemark Tinseltown on September 10, before continuing to Sun-Ray Cinema in Tampa (September 17) and Premiere Cinemas in Birmingham (September 24), with additional stops still ahead at Nashville’s Belcourt Theatre (October 8), Belair Luxury Cinema in Detroit (October 15), and a red carpet premiere closing out the tour at Atlanta’s Tara Theatre (October 29). Each stop has featured red carpet arrivals, meet-and-greets, live music, and immersive activations.
According to Swirl Films and Duval, the premiere tour has sold out Thursday night screenings at elevated ticket prices ranging from $35 to $55, part of what the team describes as an effort to reshape the traditional movie release model. The new video game and AMC run mark the next phase of that rollout, ahead of a planned VOD release on Apple TV and Amazon Prime timed for Halloween.
Set to a creepy reimagining of Duval’s Billboard #1 single “Living My Best Life,” the video game is an adventure-survival title in which players run and dodge a knife-wielding killer. The game lets players choose from eight characters pulled from the film: Lil Duval, Jay-Ski, Erica Duchess, Nav Greene, Just Brittany, Tyler Chronicles, T-Bone, and Holden.
AMC Theatres in Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Orlando, and Washington, D.C., will host the film’s limited showings September 30 through October 2, with expansion to additional cities possible depending on performance.
