As part of the celebration of Amazon Prime Day 2023, Amazon Studios shared a sneak peek of their upcoming movies and TV shows, and ‘Candy Cane Lane’ was among the exciting lineup. In one clip, we’re transported to what seems like the North Pole. While the premise of the movie is still under wraps, the snowy mountains, candy cane flooring, and other whimsical decorations evoke the magical atmosphere of Santa Claus’s realm. Another image showcases a cheerful suburban scene with a band playing in what appears to be the eponymous Candy Cane Lane. These visuals create anticipation and set the stage for a delightful holiday adventure.
Eddie Murphy not only stars in ‘Candy Cane Lane’ but also takes on a producing role in the film which promises to deliver the perfect blend of comedy and heart, sprinkled with holiday cheer.
While plot and character details are being kept tightly under wraps, the film will be released worldwide on Prime Video this December. This film marks the first of Murphy’s three-picture deal and first-look film agreement with Amazon Studios, cementing their partnership and continued collaboration.
The deal with Amazon Studios comes on the heels of the success of Coming 2 America. The sequel moved from Paramount to Amazon during the pandemic and became the most streamed movie during its opening weekend. It also held the title of the biggest streaming film opening weekend in 2021. The film resonated particularly well with Black audiences, becoming the top streamed movie among that demographic, according to Nielsen.
The production of ‘Candy Cane Lane’ brings together an impressive team. Murphy produces alongside Imagine’s Brian Grazer, president of features Karen Lunder, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster. This collaboration marks a reunion of the team behind the 1992 hit ‘Boomerang.’ As well as it solidifies the seventh partnership between Grazer and Murphy.
