CBS has officially renewed Matlock for a second season, ahead of the airing of its third episode. The series, starring Academy Award winner Kathy Bates, has garnered positive reception since its debut on september 22.
A modern reimagining of the classic series starring Andy Griffith, Matlock now follows Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a sharp septuagenarian who returns to the workforce after years of success. Matty joins a prestigious law firm, where her unassuming demeanor and crafty legal tactics help her navigate the high-stakes world of law. Alongside her, a talented cast including Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, David Del Rio, and Leah Lewis bring the legal drama to life.

Developed by Jennie Snyder Urman, Matlock has been praised for its modern twist and refreshing approach to the iconic character. Urman serves as the showrunner and executive producer, alongside Joanna Klein, Eric Christian Olsen, Kat Coiro, and Kathy Bates herself. The series is produced by CBS Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
