AMC Networks’ third installment of ‘The Terror’ anthology series, ‘The Terror: Devil in Silver,’ has unveiled its star-studded cast.
Joining lead and executive producer Dan Stevens are a dozen notable actors including CCH Pounder (‘Rustin,’ ‘NCIS: New Orleans’), Chinaza Uche (‘Silo,’ ‘A Good Person’), Hampton Fluker (‘Shades of Blue,’ ‘Instant Family’), and Hayward Leach (‘Tom Swift,’ ‘Love Life’). The cast also features Judith Light (‘Before,’ ‘Out of My Mind’), Aasif Mandvi (‘Evil,’ ‘This Way Up’), John Benjamin Hickey (‘The Big C,’ ‘Lilly’), Stephen Root (‘Barry,’ ‘Heads of State’), Michael Aronov (‘The Americans,’ ‘Operation Finale’), and Marin Ireland (‘Sneaky Pete,’ ‘Glass Chin’).
Written by Chris Cantwell (‘Halt and Catch Fire’) and based on Victor LaValle’s novel, ‘The Terror: Devil in Silver’ follows the harrowing journey of Pepper, a working-class moving man played by Stevens. Through a series of unfortunate events and his own bad temper, Pepper finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital. This institution, filled with society’s forgotten, harbors dark secrets, and perhaps even the Devil himself. As Pepper battles against the sinister forces within New Hyde’s walls, he must confront the demons inside him to find his path to freedom.
The six-episode limited series is currently filming in New York and New Jersey and is set for a 2025 premiere on AMC and AMC+. The production team boasts an impressive lineup with Cantwell and LaValle as executive producers alongside Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker for Scott Free Productions, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert for Emjag Productions, Guymon Casady (Entertainment 360), Stevens, and Brooke Kennedy. Karyn Kusama is also on board as an executive producer and will direct the first two episodes.
In a statement, Dan Stevens expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “I’m thrilled to be a part of ‘The Terror: Devil in Silver.’ This series is a dark symphony of psychological horror and gripping drama, set to rock the audience. Victor LaValle, Christopher Cantwell, and this incredible team have crafted a unique and twisted dance of devils and shadows. I look forward to delivering something epic that will echo through the halls like an iron bell.”
AMC’s ‘The Terror’ first captivated audiences in 2018 with its tale of a British naval expedition trapped in ice while searching for the Northwest Passage. The second season, titled ‘The Terror: Infamy,’ released in 2019, followed Japanese-Americans in internment camps during World War II.
Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, stated, “‘The Devil in Silver’ offers a perfect opportunity for a new installment of this popular and critically acclaimed anthology. We are looking forward to once again working with Chris Cantwell, Victor LaValle, Karyn Kusama and this great producing team to share our version of Victor’s heralded and disturbing novel.”
Victor LaValle, reflecting on the series, said, “‘Devil in Silver’ is a horror story based on all I’ve seen and also a love letter to the resilience of the human spirit. I feel so lucky that Christopher Cantwell agreed to help me tell this story. His gifts for empathy, humor and tragedy have only enriched this tale of ours. Plus, when we get together, we come up with some pretty twisted thrills. AMC is the perfect home for our show and they’ve been such enthusiastic partners in its development.”
Karyn Kusama added, “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Victor LaValle and Christopher Cantwell on the mind-bending, heart-wrenching journey that is ‘The Terror: Devil in Silver.’ They’ve created a tale that is both genuinely terrifying and satisfyingly emotional, anchored by unforgettable characters. It’s an honor to help bring this special story to life.”
‘The Terror: Devil in Silver’ is set to continue the tradition of blending real-world events with supernatural horror, promising another gripping season for fans and new viewers alike.
