Cedric the Entertainer has launched Comedy Pays, an online contest offering a weekly $1000 cash prize for the funniest joke that makes him laugh. The comedian announced the competition via video, in collaboration with Kapital Entertainment’s digital division and Cedric’s A Bird and A Bear Entertainment.
Submissions are open (click here to enter), and winners will be revealed every week, starting February 1, 2024. Comedy Pays will promote the contest through social media, comedy clubs, and universities.
Ownership note: While the contest will own the short 1-minute video of contestants delivering their jokes, it won’t claim ownership of the jokes themselves.
This initiative strengthens the existing partnership between Cedric’s A Bird and A Bear Entertainment and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, known for their collaboration on the CBS comedy series “The Neighborhood.”
Most recently Cedric the Entertainer starred in the film “The Plus One” opposite Ashanti. And up next he’s starring in “Down by the Water.”
