Colman Domingo and Demi Moore to Star in Alien Abduction Romance ‘Strange Arrivals’ from Roger Ross Williams

Colman Domingo is heading into extraterrestrial territory, starring opposite Demi Moore in Strange Arrivals, a romance rooted in one of the most infamous alien abduction stories ever told. The film will be directed by Oscar winner Roger Ross Williams (Stamped from the Beginning), and is based on the podcast of the same name by Toby Ball.

Adapted for the screen by Jane Anderson (Olive Kitteridge), Strange Arrivals is inspired by the real-life story of Betty and Barney Hill—an interracial couple who, in 1961, reported the first widely publicized alien abduction in U.S. history. What began as a honeymoon road trip from Niagara Falls turned into a national sensation, but beneath their sudden fame was a haunting story that tested their love and reality itself.

Domingo and Moore take on the roles of the Hills in what promises to be an emotional and genre-bending journey. Williams said in a statement, “As a director, to be able to work with actors at the top of their craft is a dream. Demi and Colman coming together for the first time to bring Jane Anderson’s beautiful script that illuminates the human condition to life will be magic.”

The film is produced by Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Samantha Lang, and Anne Carey, with executive producers including Simon Gillis, Garth Davis, Williams, Thorsten Schumacher, Aaron Mahnke, Bob Pittman, Conal Byrne, and Geoff Martz. The project was developed through See-Saw Films’ label I Am That, in association with One Story Up.

Rocket Science will handle international sales at the Cannes market, partnering with See-Saw’s in-house sales division, Cross City Films. WME Independent, CAA Media Finance, and Cross City Films are co-repping U.S. rights.

Domingo, fresh off his second Oscar nomination for A24’s Sing Sing, is everywhere—currently starring in Netflix’s The Four Seasons, with upcoming roles in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire, the Michael Jackson biopic, Steven Spielberg’s next film, the new season of Euphoria, and his directorial debut Scandalous! starring Sydney Sweeney and David Jonsson.

Moore recently starred in Paramount+’s Landman and will next appear in I Love Boosters for Neon from Boots Riley.
