Danielle Deadwyler (Till, The Piano Lesson) and Adam Scott (Severance, Parks and Recreation) are set to lead The Saviors, a darkly comedic thriller currently in production in Los Angeles. Directed by Kevin Hamedani, the film explores how a suburban couple’s lives unravel after renting their garage to mysterious tenants. Hamedani co-wrote the script with Travis Betz, which gained recognition on the 2018 Blacklist.

The Saviors is the first project produced under Highway 10, a new venture by Matt Smith and Dan Gedman, who are also financing the film. Additional producers include Adam Scott and Naomi Scott for Great Scott Productions, Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza for Invention Studios, and Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant for Amasia Entertainment. Deadwyler, Alyssa Roehrenbeck, and Josh Sathre serve as executive producers.
Smith and Gedman shared their excitement for the project, describing the script as “a compelling mystery with timely themes and unexpected humor.”
Deadwyler has been earning praise for her performance in Netflix’s The Piano Lesson and will soon appear in the thriller Carry-On. She’s also known for standout roles in Station Eleven, The Harder They Fall, and Till.
Scott continues to build his diverse resume, with an Emmy-nominated role in Apple TV+’s Severance. He’s set to co-host The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller and Adam Scott, produce and star in the upcoming film Double Booked, and take on his first directing role.

With its mix of dark comedy and suspense, The Saviors is set to delve into themes of suburban life and the secrets that disrupt it. The film adds to Hamedani’s growing reputation, following his work on ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction and Junk.
