AMC Networks’ Interview With the Vampire is set for a major casting change in Season 2. Delainey Hayles will be replacing her for the upcoming season, which starts filming next week in Prague and will also be shot in Paris and New Orleans.

In a statement, the network expressed its gratitude for Bass’ portrayal of Claudia, but announced that Hayles will be appearing as Claudia in Season 2 due to various reasons. Bass also issued a statement expressing her appreciation for the opportunity to play Claudia and wishing her replacement the best of luck. However, she did not elaborate on the reasons for her exit.

Bass, who made her debut in the first season of AMC’s Interview with a Vampire, starred as the role previously played by Kirsten Dunst in the 1994 film. Bass also played the character Tsireya in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water and is set to reprise her role in the upcoming Avatar sequels.

Hayles, who previously appeared in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in London’s West End, Too Close on ITV, and Holby City on the BBC, will be joining the returning series regulars Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Eric Bogosian, Assad Zaman, and Ben Daniels.

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire is a contemporary adaptation of the gothic novel that follows the epic story of Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt, and Claudia’s love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. The eight-episode second season is executive produced by Mark Johnson and Showrunner Rolin Jones.
