I had the pleasure of speaking with director Kasi Lemmons leading up to her film, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Lemmons directed the Whitney Houston film which gives viewers the most beautiful, raw perspective of the voice and icon of many generations.
This is not Lemmons’ first time directing a biopic nor is it of making an iconic film. Her previous credits include Harriet, Talk to Me, and the cult classic Eve’s Bayou. Just to name a few.

As well as addresses one of the major critiques the film has received in regards to having a British actress portraying Whitney Houston.
