Disney+ Greenlights Second Season of ‘Goosebumps’ Anthology Series

Disney Branded Television has officially given the green light for a second season of its highly successful series, “Goosebumps,” exclusively on Disney+. The announcement was made during the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California.

The upcoming eight-episode installment, produced by Sony Pictures Television, will bring a fresh twist to the “Goosebumps” anthology series. This new chapter will feature an entirely new story, setting, and cast, drawing inspiration from R.L. Stine’s globally acclaimed Scholastic book series. The season’s plot follows teenage siblings who unearth a threat within their home, triggering a series of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they venture into the unknown, they become entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.

Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, expressed excitement about the upcoming season, citing the series’ widespread popularity. “Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart, and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year,” said Davis.

The collaboration between Disney Branded Television, Sony Pictures Television, Scholastic Entertainment, and the creative team promises to deliver a captivating and entirely new mystery for the viewers of Disney+.

“Goosebumps” has garnered critical acclaim, earning Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season received nominations for a PGA Award in the Outstanding Children’s Program category and a DGA Award in the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children’s Programs category. The premiere episode on Disney+ and Hulu was a massive success, amassing 4.2 million total views globally in its first three days.

The series, based on the bestselling book series published by Scholastic, has sold over 400 million books in 32 languages, solidifying its place as one of the bestselling book series of all time.
