Dyllón Burnside has joined Apple TV’s Shrinking for its fourth season in a recurring role. He’s joined by new additions Scott Foley, Judith Light, Jillian Bell, Addie Weyrich, Christian Slater, and Karen Gillan, with exact character details for the new cast members kept under wraps. Sources close to production say Foley will play a therapy patient.
The returning cast includes series stars Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams, alongside Luke Tennie, Christa Miller, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.
Created by Bill Lawrence, Goldstein, and Segel, Shrinking follows Jimmy Laird, played by Segel, a grieving therapist who begins breaking professional boundaries by telling his patients exactly what he thinks, triggering major, often chaotic changes in their lives and his own. Season 3 closed out the show’s initial arc on grief and healing, sending its characters into new chapters: Alice left for Wesleyan, Paul relocated to Connecticut to be near his daughter, Liz and Derek set off on a trip to Spain, Gaby got engaged to Derek and committed to opening a trauma center, Brian headed to Tennessee to embrace a fuller family life, Sean moved out of the pool house, and Jimmy reconnected with Sofi, played by Smulders.
Guest stars from season 3 were Damon Wayans Jr., Brett Goldstein, Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders, along with Jeff Daniels, Michael J. Fox, Candice Bergen, Sherry Cola, and Isabella Gomez.
Shrinking is produced for Apple TV by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein hold overall deals alongside Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Ashley Nicole Black, Bill Posley, Abraham Higginbotham, and Emily Wilson executive produce.
With nearly every major character stepping into a genuinely new phase of their life by the Season 3 finale, Season 4’s expanded cast suggests the show is building fresh storylines around those new chapters rather than simply picking up where things left off.
