Eddie Murphy is gearing up for another high-octane adventure, as Sony Pictures secures Blue Falcon, a two-hander action comedy with the legendary comedian in the lead role.
The film, penned by London Has Fallen screenwriter Chad St. John, follows Murphy as a retired superspy who, while attending his estranged son’s destination wedding, unexpectedly crosses paths with his longtime archrival. The project marks another major action-comedy for Murphy, who has seamlessly blended humor and action throughout his career.
Production for Blue Falcon is backed by an impressive lineup of producers, including John Davis of Davis Films, Cliff Roberts of Syndicate Entertainment, and Murphy himself, alongside Charisse Hewitt-Webster under Eddie Murphy Productions.
Murphy remains a dominant force in Hollywood, with multiple projects on the horizon. He recently reprised his iconic role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F for Netflix and is set to portray funk music legend George Clinton in an upcoming biopic directed by Dreamgirls collaborator Bill Condon. Additionally, Murphy will return as the voice of Donkey in Shrek 5, reuniting with Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz for the beloved franchise’s next chapter, scheduled for a December 2026 release. There is also a spinoff of Donkey from the Shrek franchise in the work.
Beyond these projects, Murphy has also expressed his desire to collaborate once again with another comedy legend—Martin Lawrence. The comedian previously revealed to ET that his dream project would be a remake of the 1963 comedy classic It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, bringing his own comedic flair to the star-studded, madcap adventure.
