Briarcliff Entertainment Drops Trailer For ‘Magazine Dreams’ Led by Jonathan Majors

“You have to do something big and important, or no one will remember you when you’re dead,” Killian declares in the trailer, underscoring the film’s deep dive into the psychological toll of unrelenting ambition.

Briarcliff Entertainment has officially unveiled the trailer for Magazine Dreams, the critically acclaimed drama that captured attention at Sundance for Jonathan Majors’ transformative performance.  The film’s theatrical debut will be on March 21, 2025, with Zeus Network partnering as a marketing collaborator.

Directed and written by Elijah Bynum, Magazine Dreams tells the intense and poignant story of Killian Maddox (Majors), an aspiring bodybuilder grappling with personal demons while chasing stardom. The film explores themes of ambition, identity, and the physical toll of the pursuit of greatness. Joining Majors in the cast are Taylour Paige, Harrison Page, Haley Bennett, Harriet Sansom Harris, and four-time Mr. Universe Mike O’Hearn.

The newly released trailer offers a harrowing first look at Majors as the isolated and volatile Killian Maddox. As he relentlessly pushes himself toward his dream of becoming a world-famous bodybuilder, Killian teeters on the edge of obsession and self-destruction.

The film initially generated significant awards buzz after its 2023 Sundance Film Festival premiere, where it won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award and sparked a bidding war. However, its trajectory changed when Searchlight Pictures pulled the project amid legal troubles involving Majors. Following his 2023 conviction for domestic assault and harassment, the actor faced widespread professional fallout, including being dropped by Disney and Marvel.

After remaining in limbo for nearly a year, Briarcliff Entertainment acquired the film, giving it a second life in theaters. Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg emphasized the film’s impact:

“Magazine Dreams is a visceral experience that challenges perceptions of ambition and identity. Elijah’s film made a well-deserved splash at Sundance, and we’re thrilled to bring this compelling story to audiences nationwide.”

Majors underwent a grueling transformation for the role, consuming 6,100 calories daily and training six days a week for months to embody Killian Maddox. His performance captures the raw emotional complexity of a man driven by his need for recognition in a world that often overlooks him.

The film’s production team includes Jennifer Fox, Dan Gilroy, Jeffrey Soros, and Simon Horsman, with Majors serving as an executive producer through his company, Tall Street Productions. Zeus Network’s involvement—led by executive producers Lemuel Plummer, LJ Plummer, and Jason Tolbert—signals a strategic marketing push to expand the film’s reach.

As Magazine Dreams approaches its march 21 release, its blend of high-intensity storytelling, standout performances, and bold marketing choices positions it as one of the most talked-about films of 2025.
