The second season of “Reasonable Doubt” is set to premiere on August 22nd, and fans are treated with a first look of Emayatzy Corinealdi and new cast member Morris Chestnut in recently released clips.

Created and written by Raamla Mohamed, “Reasonable Doubt” follows Jax Stewart, portrayed by Emayatzy Corinealdi, a brilliant defense attorney juggling a complex murder case while dealing with personal turmoil, including a failing marriage and the challenges of motherhood. The show also features performances by McKinley Freeman, Tim Jo, Angela Grovey, Aderinsola Olabode, and Thaddeus J. Mixson.

Season 2 welcomes several new faces to the cast, including Morris Chestnut, Kandi Burruss, Essence Atkins, Melissa Ponzio, and Vaughn W. Hebron. In the newly released clips, fans are reintroduced to Jax Stewart and meet Corey Cash, a charismatic defense attorney played by Chestnut. Check out the clips below.

In the upcoming season, Jax attempts to rebuild her life after a tumultuous trial and a dangerous affair. Her plans are thrown into disarray when her close friend Shanelle (Shannon Kane) confesses to killing her husband, JT, in self-defense. As Jax defends Shanelle, she faces a relentless prosecutor and the pressures of the most significant case of her career, all while trying to salvage her marriage and maintain her personal well-being.

Morris Chestnut’s character, Corey Cash, is described as “a charming, media-savvy defense attorney who often represents underdogs.” The dynamic between Jax and Corey becomes tense when Jax brings him in to assist with a high-profile case, only to realize that his charm might overshadow his substance, potentially threatening her position at the firm.

Essence Atkins, known for her role in “First Wives Club,” joins the series as Dr. Brandy Michaels, a domestic violence expert whose testimony could prove pivotal in the courtroom. Atkins adds depth to the ensemble with her portrayal of a character grappling with the complexities of justice and personal morality.

Melissa Ponzio, familiar from “Teen Wolf” and “The Big Door Prize,” steps into the role of Lucy Wargo, a newly arrived District Attorney from Las Vegas. Wargo is characterized as by-the-book and fiercely ambitious, setting the stage for intense legal battles and moral dilemmas as she clashes with Jax Stewart and her defense team.

Vaughn W. Hebron brings his charisma to the series as Adrian Hunter, an NFL player and mentee of the late JT. His character offers insights into JT’s legacy and presents a fresh perspective on loyalty and justice within the narrative.

The second season of “Reasonable Doubt” continues under the direction of creator and executive producer Raamla Mohamed, with executive producers Kerry Washington, Pilar Savone, Larry Wilmore, and Anton Cropper. The series is produced by ABC Signature, a division of Disney Television Studios.
