Everybody Still Hates Chris: Chris Rock’s Family Comedy Everybody Hates Chris Gets Animated Reboot

Chris Rock’s autobiographical series Everybody Hates Chris is getting an animated reimagining with Everybody Still Hates Chris. The upcoming series received a straight-to-series order by MTV Entertainment and will premiere on both Paramount+ and Comedy Central.

Sanjay Shah wrote the pilot script which like its predecessor is inspired by the comedian’s teenage years growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s.

And like the original, Rock will narrate Everybody Still Hates Chris. The new show’s additional voice cast will be announced at a later date.

Shah will also executive produce the new series with Everybody Hates Chris co-creators/executive producers Rock and Ali LeRoi and executive producers Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky of 3 Arts. Also exec producing the reboot is Grant Gish, MTV Entertainment Studios’ Head of Adult Animation.

CBS Studios and 3 Arts Entertainment, which produced Everybody Hates Chris and originally developed the animated reboot, will produce with MTV Entertainment Studios

Everybody Hates Chris aired for four seasons (2005-2009) on UPN and three the CW. It starred Tyler James Williams as young Chris, Terry Crews as Chris’ father Julius, and Tichina Arnold as Chris’ mother Rochelle. Additional stars included Tequan Richmond , Imani Hakim, Paige Hurd and Vincent Martella.

The series won a NAACP Image Award for its writing in 2007 and was also nominated for a Golden Globe and several Emmy Awards.It quickly achieved a cult status and has remained on TV via broadcast and cable syndication
