The final trailer for “The Marvels” premiered during Monday Night Football, confirming a cameo by Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. The trailer also raised questions about the A-Force, a Marvel comic book series featuring an all-female Avengers team.
Scheduled for a U.S. theater release this Friday, “The Marvels” stars three formidable heroes: Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). The trailer provides a glimpse into the MCU’s past, highlighting key moments, including a powerful team-up sequence where Marvel’s super-women unite behind Captain Marvel. It also introduces the film’s formidable antagonist, Kree revolutionary Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton).
The trailer’s tagline, “Be there for the moment that changes everything,” leads to Valkyrie’s appearance, followed by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury’s enigmatic words, “They’re here.”
Towards the trailer’s conclusion, the voiceover by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury showcases memorable flashbacks featuring two iconic figures of the MCU—Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’s Captain America. Fury’s voiceover reminds us of the enduring importance of heroes, stating, “Heroes, it’s an old-fashioned notion, but the world can still use them.”
The film’s cast includes Gary Lewis, Seo-Jun Park, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige produced the film, which is the 33rd title in the MCU. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos, and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. The screenplay was co-written by Nia DaCosta, Megan McDonnell, and Elissa Karasik. DaCosta also is director of the film, making her the first Black woman and youngest to ever direct a MCU film
