Apple TV+’s psychological thriller Surface, starring and executive produced by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, returns for its second season on February 21, 2025. New episodes will premiere weekly on Fridays, concluding on April 11. The series, created by Veronica West, continues Sophie’s gripping journey of self-discovery and survival as she unravels the secrets of her hidden past. Alongside the announcement, Apple TV+ has released first-look images, offering a glimpse of what’s to come.

Season 2 shifts the story to London, where Sophie uses stolen resources to infiltrate elite British society. Her search for answers leads her to a mysterious heiress, but everything changes when a journalist reaches out unexpectedly. Sophie soon realizes they were once allies working to expose a dangerous scandal involving the very people she’s now entangled with. The new season promises to dive deeper into themes of identity, betrayal, and the cost of uncovering the truth.

Joining the cast this season are Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Rupert Graves (Sherlock), Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck), Gavin Drea (Daisy Jones & The Six), Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones), and Nina Sosanya (Baby Reindeer). Returning favorites Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Millie Brady will also reprise their roles.

The series is produced by Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine, with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter serving as executive producers. Veronica West, the show’s creator, returns as showrunner, writer, and executive producer to guide this next chapter.

In its first season, Surface followed Sophie as she unraveled shocking secrets about her life, including faking her death and stealing from her husband’s company. Season 2 explores the fallout of these revelations and Sophie’s attempts to understand her actions while navigating increasingly dangerous territory.
