For Us By Us Studios has teamed up with Ted Field’s Radar Pictures to develop a new scripted series chronicling the rise of the iconic hip-hop clothing brand, FUBU.

The forthcoming series will delve into the history of Fubu (For Us By Us), a brand that emerged from the intersection of money, power, and hip-hop fashion to build a $6 billion empire. Founded in 1992 by J. Alexander Martin, Keith Perrin, Carlton Brown, and Daymond John, now a star of “Shark Tank,” Fubu revolutionized urban fashion.

“Rising from the gritty streets, Fubu shattered norms and blazed a trail for urban fashion,” reads the press release. The brand’s meteoric rise was characterized by bold moves, high-stakes gambles, and relentless hustle, transforming a dream into a global sensation.

The series promises to explore not only the brand’s triumphs but also its controversial moments and behind-the-scenes power struggles. Viewers will witness the clashes, scandals, and untold stories that defined Fubu’s path to greatness.

“We see this collaboration as an opportunity to not only celebrate the vibrant culture of hip hop but also to honor the unsung heroes who have shaped its fashion landscape,” said Field. “Through their stories, we aim to inspire and empower audiences while highlighting the transformative power of creativity and self-expression.”

The project is spearheaded by J. Alexander Martin and Roberto “Rush” Evans, co-founders of For Us By Us Studios, along with Chante Evans as the series’ executive producer. Ted Field, co-founder of Interscope Records and producer of hits like “Jumanji,” “Riddick,” and “Wheel of Time,” joins them. Additional producers include Justin Smith (known for “Bodied,” “Guardians of Justice,” and “Flinch”) and Terry Ross of Ross Media Group, a board member of Carnegie Hall and executive producer of “Freaknik.”

“Fubu has always been about empowerment and breaking boundaries,” Martin commented. “Partnering with Radar Pictures allows us to tell our story authentically and with the respect it deserves. We are eager to showcase the journey of Fubu from a small startup to a global brand and the impact it has had on our culture.”

Roberto Evans added, “This series is a tribute to everyone who believed in the vision of Fubu. It’s about community, resilience, and the power of believing in yourself. We are honored to partner with Radar Pictures to share this narrative with the world.”

The series promises to be a compelling tribute to the brand that not only defined an era of hip-hop fashion but also inspired a cultural movement.
