The upcoming biopic “Michael,” directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, is set to provide an unvarnished look into the life of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International join forces for this release scheduled on April 18, 2025.
The film aims to chronicle Jackson’s musical journey from his Jackson 5 days to solo hits like “Thriller” and “Billie Jean.” It also won’t shy away from the controversies and personal struggles that marked his life, including his public and private struggles, the media scrutiny he faced, and his undeniable creative genius.
Behind the scenes, Prince Jackson, Michael’s eldest son, is actively involved in the filmmaking process, ensuring an authentic representation of his father’s legacy. Lionsgate is releasing domestically, with Universal set to handle international markets except for Japan, Tokyo-based Kino Films has struck a deal with Lionsgate and GK Films to distribute the biopic in Japan in 2025.
