Gabrielle Union is joining the third season of Apple TV’s anthology drama series Truth Be Told. She will co-lead this season with series regular Octavia Spencer.
Based on Kathleen Barber’s novel Are You Sleeping, Truth Be Told is a series centered around true-crime podcasting and stars Spencer as podcaster ‘Poppy Scoville,’ who risks everything—including her life—to pursue truth and justice.
In the upcoming season, Poppy will team up with Union’s character Eva for a new case. Eva is an outspoken high school principal who becomes embroiled in a problematic incident.

Each season of Truth Be Told is centered around a new storyline as the series offers up a “unique glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime podcasts and challenges its viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage.”
Spencer’s Poppy is the core cast member but each season tells a different story and features new stars opposite her. Season 1 had Aaron Paul as convicted murderer Warren Cave. And Kate Hudson made her TV debut in Season 2 as Micah Keith, Poppy’s childhood friend who also happens to be a media mogul.
Truth Be Told comes from Hello Sunshine, Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content. Nichelle Tramble Spellman created the series and executive produces with season three showrunner Maisha Closson, Spencer, Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter; Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping; and Mikkel Nørgaard.
